Formal Complaint Process

Any complaints pertaining to a Coastal Pines Technical College online course or program should be filed with Coastal Pines Technical College in accordance with the process outlined in our Student Handbook with the Grievance Form available online.

Complaints needing further investigation beyond the college level may be submitted to TCSG using the Program Integrity Complaint Form. Before submitting to TCSG, students need to ensure they have followed the institution’s process.

Out-of-state online students may make an appeal after following the complaint/grievance process. A student may appeal to the  Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (GNPEC) if the institution’s and TCSG’s resolution is not satisfactory; however, please note that the Commission will not investigate a complaint unless the student has exhausted all available grievance procedures outlined by the institution. GNPEC does not resolve complaints about student grades and student conduct violations. These complaints fall under the jurisdiction of institutional policy.

Distance Education

CPTC offers many online programs accessed through our local Blackboard site.

Students can also choose to take online courses as a transient student within the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). Upon completion of transient courses with another TCSG institution, the student will earn credit and have the grade sent back to the home college.

Beginning in 2021, TCSG institutions like CPTC began offering an additional option for online courses through a cooperative academic arrangement. Online courses offered through eCampus allow students access to program courses that would not otherwise be available at their home technical college. Upon completion of the eCampus course, the student will earn credit at their home college utilizing faculty from other TCSG colleges. Courses offered through eCampus will be accessed at a different site from our local Blackboard site.

Password Troubleshooting

The default original password with your date of birth CptcMMDDYY should be changed when you gain access for security purposes. Your student password expires periodically based on a schedule set by the CPTC IT Department with notices sent to school email.

Please Note that the Self-service option will only be usable if a student has logged into their CPTC email through Okta single sign onpreviously and set up multi factor identification information. When logging in to Office 365 for the first time, students are prompted to provide two forms of verification. such as a text, phone, or the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Password Reset Options- also see MyCPTC Student email & Logon guidance.

1. Use the Okta Self Service Password Reset. This only works if you have set up your Office 365 email account authentication before you need a reset.

2. Reset within student email account settings or on a CPTC campus computer by using CTRL+ALT+DEL keyboard shortcut to access the change password feature.

3. Submit a Helpdesk Request Form directly from the Blackboard Login page to contact our Distance Education department. Expect at least a 24-hour wait.

4. Reset in person at a CPTC library during library hours. Current photo ID is required. No exceptions.

5. Contact Student Affairs at any CPTC campus during office hours. Students who need their accounts reset at any location should contact Student Affairs.

If you still need help- You may have a faculty or staff member submit a ticket on your behalf to contact CPTC's IT department. An IT ticket can be submitted on a student’s behalf if a recovery phone number for O365 needs to be cleared or if the user account needs to be checked. Expect at least a 24-hour wait and to be asked to provide details. If changes to address, name, or other “directory” information is needed, students can contact a member of Admissions to have their information changed in Banner. If you do not change your password before it expires, you will be locked out of all systems until a staff member unlocks your account.

Password Minimums- The new password you create must be 8 characters long. It must contain all of these characteristics:

- a capital letter

- a lowercase letter

- a number

- a special character (such as @, #, $, %, or !).

- You may not use a previous password or parts of your name.
