Open Resources 

Repositories

  • OER Commons – A large collection of a variety of types of OER, including textbooks, courses, and ancillary materials.
  • MERLOT – The MERLOT system provides access to curated online learning and support materials and content creation tools.
  • OASIS – (Openly Available Sources Integrated Search) is a search tool that aims to make the discovery of open content easier. OASIS currently searches open content from 88 different sources and contains 352,345 records.
  • SkillsCommons – Digital Library of Workforce Training Materials

Texbooks

  • OpenStax - peer-reviewed, openly licensed college textbooks that are free online and low cost in print. (Math, Science, Social Science, Humanities, & Business)

  • BC Campus – The B.C. Open Textbook Collection is home to a growing selection of open textbooks for a variety of subjects and specialties.

  • Open Textbook Library - The Open Textbook Library provides a growing catalog of free, peer- reviewed, and openly-licensed textbooks.
  • OER Galileo (USG) - GALILEO Open Learning Materials brings together open educational resources throughout the University System of Georgia, including open textbooks and ancillary materials.

Courses

  • Saylor Academy - Saylor Academy's main project is providing free, self-paced certificate and credit courses to students around the world. But their courses are also open courseware (OCW) comprising open educational resources (OER).

  • Lumen Learning – Lumen Learning is an education technology company that creates low-cost open courseware designed to improve student success using open educational resources (OER).
  • Open Course Library - A collection of high quality, free-to-use courses that you can download and use for teaching.
  • MIT OpenCourseWare – Offers free access to almost all MIT course content.

  • YouTube & Vimeo – Videos with a CC license can be found through Advanced Search options

  • Flickr – An online photo management and sharing application and many photos are available under CC licenses; Flickr allows searching by type of license.

  • Khan Academy – A collection of instructional videos and practice exercises on topics including math, science, programming, history, English, economics, and standardized test prep.

  • PhET – Interactive math and science simulations with lesson plans and activities
  • PLOS – (Public Library of Science) – Open Access Journals
